Please save my life
This is Dean Sheikh. A 7 year old boy who desperately needs a Bone Marrow Transplant. Appealing to the Asian’s to come forward and register with the Anthony Nolan Trust to become a potential donor for someone.
Here is the ITV News appeal for Dean. Please view it and pass it on. I need to forward this and get more people on the register. We need to help children and people like Dean, Aila, Alishba & Rianna and the 1000’s who desperately need a Bone Marrow Transplant. Please register with the Anthony Nolan trust or the ACLT and help save a life today. Thanks.
Dyskeratosis congenita
Dyskeratosis congenita is an inherited condition, characterised by many abnormalities, including abnormal skin pigmentation and nail growth, premature ageing and an increased risk of malignancy, particularly of the skin and gut. Patients may suffer from some or all of these symptoms. The most common feature of the disease is bone marrow failure (aplastic anaemia), which affects 80 per cent of patients. For 30-50 per cent of these, conventional treatment – medical therapy or bone marrow transplant – fails or is not available and the patient dies prematurely. Abnormal skin pigmentation and nail changes often appear during childhood, usually by the age of ten years. The more serious complications of the disease – bone marrow failure and cancer – appear during the teens and twenties. The other condition is Hoyeraal-Hreidarsson syndrome: A very rare syndrome characterized mainly by retarded growth, a small head, anemia, immunodeficiency and an underdeveloped brain.
Numerous people have contacted myself and asked how they can donate. At the moment, the quickest way is to go to the NBS (National Blood Service) website http://www.blood.co.uk and finding out the nearest clinic by typing your postcode. Get to the clinic and then you will then have to donate some blood and you can be asked to be put onto the Bone Marrow Register at the same time. Please remember that we are lacking in blood donations aswell at the moment. In only 7 days my son has had to have a Blood transfusion and 2 Platelets transfusions. Blood has a shelf life of approx 30 days. So we are also needing Blood donations all the time. Helping someone by giving blood or Bone Marrow Donation is one of the best gifts that you could ever give. Just imagine, you could help save someones life.

I just stumbled across this article whilst I was on google. Thank you so much for writting this article. It really does mean alot to me. Dean and I have been at the hospital for 30 days now. Unfortunately, the Drs do not know what the problem is. Dean has had a fever on and off for the whole duration of his stay and has had several blood and platelet transfusions. Please please please visit my website and find out your nearest donation clinic. Please spread the word. My sons health is deteriorating and you could be the answer to all of his problems. Thanks. farahs@hotmil.co.uk
